“FINALLY! MIZA’S REVEALING HER SKINCARE SECRET”
Well…not really guys bahaha. First, as you can tell by the title, I’m going to talk about the products that I’ve used and emptied since the beginning of 2017 only. Second, the skincare regime that I used to do using the empties might or might not be the same as my current one (won’t tell yet as it’s still under trial and error, so far so good though hehe) sooo don’t get your hopes fly too high!
Before I start it, I wanna tell you guys that all of these products that I’m going to mention might OR might NOT work on your skin. I’ve combination (oily on T-zone area and dry on the area around my cheeks) and also acne prone. Your skin type might not be the same as mine, you might have fully dry or oily skin. I don’t really have severe acne problem though, I only get breakouts whenever it’s the time of the month and when my face gets a bit dirty. So if you’ve severe acne problem, don’t follow my skincare yet! Go to a dermatologist first as they’re obviously more pro about skin more than me haha. Some skincare products can damage your skin even more if it doesn’t go well with your skin type, so better be safe than sorry. Also you can save up your money from buying expensive skincare products that doesn’t suit your skin as it’s going to end up untouched on your vanity table instead. Some skincare products can be a hella of investment, guys. #nokidding
So I started to take a very good care of my skin once again starting early of this year. I used to not care about my face guys, at all. I didn’t wear any sunscreen or moisturizer, you know the basic ones. Which explained why I looked like a burnt potato during high school hahaha.
……well….that explains why my crush rejected me…..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA #Iforgiveyou #Itstillhurtsthough
I wasn’t really a skincare junkie back then, but I was a total makeup enthusiast. I didn’t care about my skin because I’ve this mindset of “as long as there are bbcreams and foundations in this world, I’ll be fine”. A naive rebel teenage who thought that makeup can conceal all *stares younger self* You’re wrong.
I only started to get conscious about my skin’s condition around late 2015, when Bub and Teet brought a bunch of skincare products that were really just a bunch of alien things to me (it was only cleansers, moisturizers, toners and masks, guys. I was a noob) while I only brought a cleanser with me to our sleepover at Rizqun. Early 2016, I started to try on my first complete set of skincare from bio-essence, which caused my skin to breakout so bad! So I stopped using toner and all and just sticked to my holy grail cleanser. It does cleared up my pimples though, but it left my skin really dry. I went on sticking on the cleanser until I once again gotten conscious of my own skin after reading Charlotte Cho’s skincare book.
I didn’t immediately bought everything though, as my consciousness crept in me real slow this time, despite of endlessly asking about Lee Sungkyung’s flawless skin. During my trip to KK, I bought Tarte’s maracuja oil in hopes that it will heal my pimple scars. Just by doing the new routine after cleansing made me feel all giddy, there’s something really therapeutic about doing skincare…or it’s just me…? Ok just me then hahaha.
I also decided to try on toner again, having the “10 steps korean skincare routine” in my mind. At the airport, I decided to buy this Chanel toner…just ’cause the packaging looks really classy HAHAHAHA. Since then I went back to my old skincare routine, but this time I chose different products from different brands, though some clashed. And it finally (kinda) worked, guys!!!
Let’s start with the Chanel toner first
I’m a sucker when it comes to products that focuses on hydrating your skin. As I mentioned above my face can get really dry and dead skin could sometimes be seen peeling off of the dry area. Putting on foundation above it doesn’t help either as it enhances the clarity of the rough surface even more, making it appear 10x more disgusting. So when I saw this toner that clearly stated HYDRA and HYDRATION for 3 times, I was sold. #weak.
I bought this during our duty free shopping at KK’s airport, retailing around BND84. It was hella of an investment, but it was worth it guys!!! It does the job in hydrating my face and it gave cooling effect too! Some toner can make your skin still feeling dry sometimes, but I didn’t experience it with this one. As y’all know, toner is one of the vital skincare steps, as it does not only help to remove the leftover dirts and sweats from your pores (apparently double cleansing can be insufficient sometimes) especially after wearing makeup, but it also can help to balance the pH level of your skin. Applying toner can also help to prepare your skin to absorb the next skincare products that you’re going to apply. Basically it is important to prep your skin so it can easily absorb the other good stuffs better, so don’t skip toning kay!
Chanel is obviously not a korean brand, to start on your “10 steps korean skincare” you don’t really have to use all korean products, but if you still want to then it’s better for you hehe. Chanel is from France, and I heard from a beauty guru from YT (can’t remember who though) that french beauty products are good too. So PHEW this overpriced toner was totally worth it. I love peeking on the dirts that stuck on the cotton pad after toning my face using this product, it was so disgusting yet satisfying at the same time. Don’t judge me LOL. The only con about this product is the availability of it in Brunei. I have yet to bump into any online shop that sells Chanel beauty so it’s really hard for me to repurchase it again. I saw the exact same toner at KLIA2 but it was retailed for BND100. Heck am I gonna spend extra BND20 just like that??? But you know what, I should’ve *cries*. I’m currently wearing a toner from Missha and it’s great though, but I don’t think it can surpass this amazing Chanel toner. This one bottle lasted me for 7 months so #definitelyworthit
SkinFood face scrub and mask.
Exfoliating your face two times per week should be your routine by now, as it helps to remove the dead skin off of your face. So many beauty gurus have been raving about this scrub from skin food, even Pony used it guys! Another amazing thing about this scrub is that you can use it to scrub your face and then leave it on as your mask for 10-15 minutes after massaging your whole face with it! So this product is both your exfoliator and your mask! I initially wanted to get the black sugar one, but the skin food shop that I went to doesn’t have one in stock, but they had this strawberry one instead. So I just bought it because I was already a tad obsessed in taking care of my skin by that time bahaha.
The first time I tried it on, I already had my hopes up so high. I loved the smell of it, if you guys ever smell bodyshop’s strawberry shower gel, the smell’s basically similar to that hehe. Man..the smell itself could made me all hyped up, it’s so easy to impress me tbh LOL. I let the product to rest on my face for 15 mins after massaging my face with it. The scrubbing part itself felt really good guys, despite having to do it gently. I was all shook when I washed the mask off and patting it dry, like WOAH IS THIS MY CHEEK OR A BABY’S BUTT??? I kid you not guys, it made my skin feel sooo soft and lightweight!!! I almost tell everyone in the house to touch my face lol. The rave was legit!
It came in a small tub and every skin food shop here in Brunei sell the strawberry one for BND20 and the normal black sugar one for BND22. You don’t have to scrub your face everyday (over exfoliating your skin can cause breakout) so one tub lasted me for 4 months. I’m on my second tub now, but this time I’m trying the normal black sugar instead. Had to say, this strawberry is still my favorite <3
Bio-Essence Gold Water.
I used this as my moisturizer, even though me myself not sure what’s the real purpose of this LOL. But hey, it did a pretty good job as a moisturizer ’cause of the gel texture so why nottt. Bio-essence claimed that this gold water could help defy my wrinkles, which I do have so..SURPRISE!! I’ve little wrinkles around my cheeks near my smile lines, nothing intense haha. I think it’s normal for someone who laughs and stretches her mouth a lot lol. But hmmm…so far my wrinkles are still there sitting peacefully and ignoring the fact that I’m raging to smoothen it out. This gold water is also said to help in minimizing my pores..which again doesn’t really do the job. I still have huge pores around my cheeks area, these rebels who stared back at me just won’t buy the pretty gold water that I slapped on them -___-
But, I do love how plump my skin feels like after applying it. It also gave me the glow and most importantly, it hydrated my face really well. So I’m still SOLD teehee. I’m also on my second bottle now, but it’s the rose gold version this time. I couldn’t really remember the price for this though, will update you guys again after I check it at guardian kays :>
Bio-essence miracle water mist and sunscreen.
Another bio-essence products, the mist and sunscreen. Y’all can tell that I’m a total sucker for products that screams HYDRATION, WATER, MOIST etc. I’d be like “hey you Imma take you home and you better make me wet” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA JOKES LA OMG. But ok serious, I’m really obsessed with hydrating my skin I don’t exactly know why LOL.
I bought the face mist the night before the Exordium concert ’cause Teet told me so and boy, it did helped us to overcome the intense heat few hours before the rain. I also used this every time I’m done applying my makeup, it helped my skin to replenish back the moisture that it needed despite being covered with foundation. I have yet to repurchase this though ’cause I’m contemplating whether to buy it again or get myself a Mario Badescu rose mist…so we’ll just see.
As for the sunscreen, I only started to wear it on December last year. It was boss chick who bought it for me ’cause she wanted me to protect my skin as early as possible. As a person who’s living in a country where the sun’s just above the head almost everyday, sunscreen is VITAL. No I’m not trying to say that tanned is ugly guys, heck no. But sunscreen can protect your skin from the UV radiation, which can cause skin cancer…Ok la to make it sound less scary, sunscreen can help your skin from premature aging and also hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is basically the dark patches that usually attack you when you hit the number 40 or earlier. By wearing sunscreen, you can prevent it from happening. You guys all well known that preventing is better than healing right hehe. (tip: try to use sunscreen with a high SPF, so far I’ve seen 50 as the highest)
Me and teet used to wear the same sunscreen, but we’ve been searching for this one here and there but guardian have yet to restock it (even huaho…) I loved this sunscreen so much, it doesn’t leave my skin oily as it is water based. It was pretty easy to apply it due to the lightweight texture and it did protected my skin really well (I used the one with SPF50). I didn’t get myself tanned easily and it rejuvenated and turned my skin into its original color! Except for my arms (I do wear sunscreen on my arms though, but ever since I started driving it gotten tanner. I guess the process might take a little longer), my whole body’s even in color now LOL. I love sunscreen. So start wearing it guys! Be a dear and start to do your skin a favor.
Now y’all know my basic skincare routine: double cleanse (though I’ve yet to reveal…), toning, moisturizing and sunscreen. This is how my face look like around March, don’t judge ’cause this is the only halal photo of me without any makeup on and I was actually all sweaty at this time HAHA
The caption’s pretty self-explanatory LOL #keepinbadmintonhalaltothemax
As you can tell, my skin is not perfect but it is 100000x better than it was few years ago. I do still get breakouts from time to time, I mean c’mon I’m still a human being kay. Having a skincare routine doesn’t mean you can totally get rid of your pimples, it isn’t something that you can totally control. Those perfect korean dewy skin? The korean secret’s actually dermatology. Koreans care too much about their skin they’d even go to their dermatologist despite having 3-4 breakouts only. That’s a huge determination and discipline right there guys haha *coughs* cannot relate *coughs*. Obviously I couldn’t afford going to facials every month..yet..so this skincare will do.
Other than skincare, obviously you need to do other things to prevent pimples from camping on your face: change your bedsheets (at least every 2 weeks), don’t sleep with your makeup on, don’t just randomly touch your face using your fingers (guilty) and seriously, DRINK WATER. It’s not a myth ok, it does help. All of these outside services won’t work if your inside’s still dirty. The oxygen inside the water helps your blood to circulate faster and smoothly and does make your skin more healthier; healthy skin can dwell with bacteria even better thus less pimple. Simple logic. So don’t yell at me if I tell you my skincare secret’s drinking loads of water. If you don’t want then…your lost. But if you want to try, try drinking it before sleeping, after you wake up, whenever you feel thirsty. I don’t really follow the 8 cups thing ’cause the trip to the toilet’s pretty exhausting haha. But so far so good though #waterisgood #waterislife
Soooo that’s all for now guys! Hopefully this post’s beneficial to y’all (finally a post that you guys can learn from haha). If any of my statement’s contrary to yours, feel free to correct me on the comment section kay! And remember, these products may work on your skin or not. I’m not in any ways forcing you to try it okay, it is just mere reviews.
Except for sunscreen, you guys need to start wearing it haha.
Disclaimer: I’m not a skincare pro or whatsoever, every informations that I typed above are based on my own experiences.
Please don’t sue me if your skin started to breakout really bad after trying out the products I’ve mentioned above.
